A couple of meals in Beijing

Here is my breakfast this morning - a fresh-cooked pastry with hot sauce and lettuce. 5RMB (about a dollar).

Here is my lunch yesterday. Apparently a specialty of Yunan province ("The best is in Kunming") it's called "guo qiao mi xian", "crossing the bridge noodles". The ingredients all come on separate little plates and they assemble the meal in front of your very eyes. Mine had spices, sausage, chicken, quail (?) eggs, &etc. This version cost 28RMB (5 dollars) - prices run up to about 40RMB with "the works".

It wasn't spicey at all, but apparently it can be!
