Pizza our second attempt

We had a nice relaxing day today.  We decided to spend a day relaxing at the beach, but it was a bit overcast and threatening to rain (we felt a couple of drops but no real rain) so we went for a walk instead.  We drove to Marina de Pisa and wandered along the waterfront.  It was mostly a rocky shoreline (with Italian sunbathers laying out on the rocks) with a small stretch of sandy beach.  Most was private, with bathhouses renting out deckchairs and umbrellas, but there was a small patch of public beach which I imagine would get pretty crowded on the weekend.  (We were there on Friday and the weather as I mentioned was not ideal for sunbathing.)

We decided to do another pizza for dinner.  I think this time we pretty much perfected it.

A raging fire in the oven.  Note the temperature is over 300 already.  You are supposed to get it up to 400, and then cook the pizza at 300, but today we only managed to get it up to about 330.

The pizza ready to go.  This time we rolled out the dough using a rolling pin (rather than tossing the pizza Italian style) so they are actually round.  I also remembered to flour the board so they didn't stick going into and out of the oven.

Pizzas cooking, note how they've retained their pizza shape!

Pizza number 1 - lookin' good!

Pizza number 2 ready to eat.

Next pizza day we are going to try also cooking bread, pie, and maybe a few other treats.  As the oven cools down there are different foods you can cook at the different temperatures.  We've been using this site as a tutorial - http://www.slowfoodandhandforgedtools.com.au/using_oven.html - but if anyone has any suggestions send them along!  (This site also says we can use the ash on our garden - are there any gardening geeks out there who can shed some light on this?)
