Our house in the Tuscan hills

After our 24-hour journey we're slowly getting adjusted to Italy time.  Saturday we all slept in until after noon, and this morning we had to set an alarm and force ourselves to get up at 9AM.  We're on holiday but let's not go overboard!

Here is the view from our Tuscan villa:

Not bad, eh?  That's either Calci or Pisa in the distance.  (Calci is a small town between our villa and Pisa.)  Here is our closest neighbour:

Our villa is an old house, but very modern.  Here is the kitchen and living room:

We drove down to the co-op to pick up some groceries - basically some wine, cheese and cold cuts.  I think that's what we're going to live on for the next 2 months!  We had a hard time selecting the cheese.  All the labels are in Italian and we don't know the local specialties.  However we're here for 2 months so I think we'll just work through the selection from left to right.

Today we're picking up Sonya's cousin (who's here for a couple of weeks to visit) and his daughter, then going to a folk festival tonight, then spending a night in Florence.  Then back to our villa.

Did I mention our taxi got lost driving us to our villa?  Well we found out that my tablet can download maps offline and then function as a GPS.  We've got a route map from our villa to the airport and back so we're going to try this out today.  Wish us luck!
